Milk thistle seed
Milk thistle is native to the Mediterranean region and is now found in many parts of Europe, as far as southern Russia and Iran. Its seeds are dark brown, shiny fruits with a characteristic tuft of hairs and contain valuable plant compounds.
Of particular importance is the active compound complex silymarin, which is found exclusively in the seed coat.
