Milk thistle seed
Milk thistle is native to the Mediterranean region and is now found in many parts of Europe, as far as southern Russia and Iran. Its seeds are dark brown, shiny fruits with a characteristic tuft of hairs and contain valuable plant compounds.

Of particular importance is the active compound complex silymarin, which is found exclusively in the seed coat. In addition to flavonolignans, milk thistle seeds also contain fatty acids, vitamin E, sterols, protein, as well as bitter and mucilaginous substances. This composition makes them a sought-after raw material for both food and pharmaceutical applications.
Milk thistle seeds are primarily used in the health and nutrition industries. They serve as a base for dietary supplements, extracts or oils and are used in products related to liver health and digestive function. In addition, they can also be ground directly and incorporated into food products.
