Sunflower seeds
An oilseed with a high fat content and a functional nutritional profile – rich in protein, high in fibre and versatile. Available hulled and unhulled, in organic and conventional varieties.

Sunflower seeds come from the flower heads of the annual sunflower (Helianthus annuus). They contain around 45 to 50% fat, of which approximately 90% is unsaturated fatty acids. With a protein content of up to 25% and significant amounts of vitamin E, B vitamins, magnesium and other micronutrients, they are among the most nutrient-rich oilseeds for nutritionally optimised applications in food and feed processing.
Typical uses include baked goods, muesli and bars – as a filling, topping or for added texture. Sunflower seeds are also used in seed mixes and as an ingredient in snacks. In the animal feed sector, they are used to supplement protein- and fat-rich formulations. Furthermore, they serve as a raw material for oils and ground products.
