(Organic) oats are a genus of plants within the sweet grass family. There are 25 different species. Oats have been cultivated in Europe since about 1000 BC. Oats are rich in carbohydrates, various minerals and B vitamins. In addition, oats are a natural source of the soluble dietary fibre beta-glucan.
Oats are used for the production of various foods such as flakes, flour, oat drink and baked goods. It is also used as animal feed.
